From the Pacific Ocean- influenced Leyda Valley, a classy single vineyard Sauvignon. In terms of style, a halfway house between the Loire Valley and New Zealand, it’s delicious with asparagus tart.
2009 Mulderbosch Chenin Blanc Steen op Hout
Stellenbosch, South Africa (13.5%vol)
Delightful stuff this, ideal for summer salads and cold poached salmon. The fruit is part tank-fermented and part barrel-fermented, resulting in a charming soft, smooth, creamy, dry to off-dry mouthful.

2010 Domaine de L’Arnesque, Côtes du Rhône
Rhône, France (14%vol)
An 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah blend from old vines surrounding the town of Jonquiers in the Southern Rhône. With plenty of ripe, spicy fruit, it is soft and approachable and great with summer picnics.
2009 Salice Salentino ‘10 Nero’ Terra di Sava
Puglia, Italy (13%vol)
A full-flavoured, robust and mouth-filling blend of Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera from southern Italy. With chocolate, liquorice and black cherry fruit on the palate, it’s spot-on with rich game dishes.
2009 Château Jaumard
Bordeaux, France (14%vol)
This Merlot-dominant blend from the edge of St Emilion might be traditionally made, but it’s new-wave in style, being full of vibrant, juicy fruit and soft tannins. Ready now, it’s ideal for Sunday roasts.
